My sincerest condolences to Jackie. I had met Marshall Abuwi on campus of Norwich University in 2008 when we both were graduate students of Master's in Military History program there. For years since, he and I were in contact, having great historical conversations over the phone. He valued my unorthodox approach to everything, especially the study of World History, which excited his interest and committed him to hours of discussion. Among other things, we talked about Booker T. Washington and his life, legacy and books. We were both dissatisfied with the direction America was undergoing, and felt that the education system requires a significant improvement. My name is Alex. I am a European-born American who had the rare honor to meet and befriend a man like Marshall who is part and parcel of American History. He was worthy of his ancestors and a genuine American intellectual, which in itself is a rare breed nowadays. Marshall was a loving and open-minded person who understood the value of loyalty, missed by all who knew him. I will also miss Marshall a lot.

Dear Jackie, I just learned of the passing of Cousin Marshall "Butch" Cabiness. Butch, as we fondly called him in the family was a treasured, valued and respected member of The Cabaniss Family .and we always looked forward to seeing Butch at Cabaniss Family Reunions and hearing him share with us his experiences of growing up on The Campus of Tuskegee University and his Father Marshall, Sr. being a Tuskegee Airman.
